Coffee, how I love thee!

Today began as a rainy, Saturday morning, just perfect for hanging out in pajamas while watching movies with the kiddos.  What makes this and every morning even better is:

I haven't always been a coffee addict drinker.  It started about 10 years ago when I began my first job right out of college.  An acquired taste, for sure, but it didn't take long for me to be hooked.

With the variety of coffeemakers, french presses, grinders, etc, out there for coffee connoisseurs, there's one thing I've discovered over my caffeine-buzzed years:

you just gotta have a great mug.

There's just something about finding that one special mug that makes the morning cup of joe even tastier.  No, really!  It does taste different to me in different mugs.  Sort of like, a Coca-cola tastes different in a can than in a bottle... or a red M&M tastes different than a green M&M.  Call me crazy if you want.  I'm cool with that. ; )

Of all the mugs I've test-driven, these are by far my favorite:
Great White Coupe Latte Mugs from Pottery Barn
My husband and I were given a set of these as a wedding gift.  After accidentally breaking one and even misplacing another, we're down to only two of these wonderful cups.  We pretty much keep them washed on a daily basis, as we certainly wouldn't ever want to argue over something as trivial as a coffee mug.  Nope, not us...

So what are my favorite brands/brews?

The Dark Italian blend is our favorite.

Starbucks Pike Place Roast

So, now I have to ask... Are there any fellow coffee lovers out there?  If so, which brands are your favorite?  What tiny details make your coffee experience even better?  Do you have any brands, mugs, creamers, etc., that you think I should try?

Your coffee looks more interesting than ours, but as hopefully I am coming to Nashville in June I will be able to sample them for myself.
Loved the blog.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who loved coffee this much! I'm actually not that picky when it comes to the brand. I just love vanilla flavored cofee. Love those mugs!

Coffee! I was curious if you were going to blog on coupons today. :)

Community Coffee is great. I love both chocolate and raspberry flavor in coffee. I also love adding French Vanilla creamer to plain coffee. (That love is partially due to the fact that my church keeps a huge container of the yummy liquid vanilla creamer right next to the coffee on Sunday mornings). Starbucks Verona blend (I think) is another favorite. Dark roast is great, yum. Oddly enough, I'm not much of a coffee drinker at home... sometimes in the winter. I've also become addicted to iced coffee lately... McDonald's no sugar vanilla... guaranteed to help me wake up from an afternoon slump!

Melody, you know I considered coupons... But I figure I post about that enough. So coffee won!

Yvonne, Nashville is a wonderful city. Hope you find that to be true, too!

Raquel, I'm not huge fan of the actual coffee being vanilla flavored, but i definitely enjoy vanilla creamer from time to time. Liquid, not powder! : )

Stacey, glad you appreciate the "special mug" taste, too!

Thanks a ton for the comments. This was a fun post!

Hi Carmen! I'm stopping by way of the A to Z challenge and am so glad to have found you here. I always love running into other Christians in the blogging world too.

I am also a coffee lover! And I am so right there with you on the mugs...you have to have a great mug, it changes the whole experience.

I also love Eight O'Clock Coffee and a favorite Caribou blend is the Reindeer Blend. I love a good dark roast! I can't recommend any creamers since I mostly just take it black!

Am also thinking I need to swing into Pottery Barn to see if I can find those mugs, love them!

Have a blessed Easter Sunday!

I am a coffee connoisseur, too! My requirement for an excellent pot of coffee is to buy the whole beans (mix up a bunch of different flavors) and grind them at home. A good coffee maker (not Mr. Coffee) and filtered water is essential too. :)

As long as the coffee is good, it wouldn't matter if I drank it out of a skillet! :)

Great "C" post.

Lisa, we really enjoy grinding the beans ourselves on occasion. But with a 3yo and 1yo I just make it as quickly as possible these days! : )

Trudy, when I was grabbing that pic of the mug from the pb website, the set was on sale! Not sure about in stores, though. But it was very tempting to order another set!

Hi, CK,
I have been a coffee user since I was an infant. Believe it or not...when we were babies, our mom would put a biscuit into a saucer of coffee and feed it to us. It was called soakey (because the biscuit soaked up the coffee. I am nearly 77 and so that was back before the government started regulating what was good for people to eat. Ha. We use Folger's coffee. Unless he has coffee to drink after his meal, my husband doesn't consider the meal to be over. Thanks for following my blog. I look forward to reading more of your postings!
Best regards to you,
Ruby

Carmen, I have to know- can you get Community Coffee in Nashville? We can't get it here in mid-Missouri :( A church friend of mine is from LA and we had the longest discussion of CC the other day- how funny you have it on your blog. When I was in Grenada last weekend, found a "card" you had drawn with a cow on it that said "MOO" and put in my locker. Hope all is well with you and yours!
